WE ALL WANT TO spent 3 weeks in August 2011 hunkered down over the recording console armed with bouzoukis, tambourines, xylophones and an omnichord, but more importantly an army of electric guitars, loud amps and fuzz pedals. The new album is the sound of a confident rock band turning on and tuning in. Punk rock ist nicht tot.

First single YOU USED TO BE FUNNY is a bratty blast of playground pop, a bittersweet duet done fast and loud. It will be released digitally and also on limited edition flexi disc from March 2012.

The band are touring in April and May with Plus One label mates Halfway.

You can catch We All Want To (acoustic) in Adelaide on Thursday May 3 at the Exeter Hotel (Rundle Street) w/ Halfway (acoustic) and Mere Theory (acoustic), and in full electric mode on Friday May 4 at the Metro Hotel (Grote Street) w/ Halfway and Nick Barker.

Mere Theory headline Australia Day Eve show at the Seaford Tavern

We’re pleased to announce that our first show for 2012 will be at our southern stomping ground – otherwise known as The Seaford Tavern (Cnr Commercial Rd & Griffiths Dr, Seaford) on Wednesday 25 January with awesome local lads Walk The Plank and Mayweather. Australia Day eve at The Tav is a legendary event, it’s a free show and doors are at 7pm. Best get there as early as you can, as the room can fill up pretty quickly.

ALL WALLS WILL FALL

Mere Theory are pleased to announce the 8pm launch of our new music video ‘All Walls Will Fall’ at the Mercury Cinema on Friday 9 December (entry by gold coin donation).

Clip It! is a film production initiative that has partnered eight rising South Australian artists with eight local filmmaking teams. With support from major sponsor Canon Australia, the initiative has seen filmmakers produce outstanding music video clips that demonstrate the calibre of Adelaide’s musical talent.

The Clip It! music videos were shot exclusively on Canon’s Digital SLR (still image) camera range to demonstrate their HD Quality video capabilities. The results showcase the strength of musicians and filmmakers alike.

The eight videos will have their public premiere at the Mercury Cinema on Friday, 9th December, with doors from 7.30pm. Seating is strictly limited so please email rsvp@mrc.org.au to reserve seats.

The program will be followed by an afterparty at Nexus Cabaret featuring live music from Hawks of Alba Ride Into The Sun DJs and Play / Pause / Play DJs. Entry is free with your launch ticket!

The Mission In Motion ‘Control’ Tour

Mere Theory are pleased to announce they’ll be be playing the Ed Castle Hotel on Friday 2 December with The Mission In Motion and Strangers (ex Fifty Sixx). Fresh of the back of supporting You Me At Six (UK) and We The Kings (USA), The Mission In Motion are back on the road armed with their new single “Control”, and headline tour of the same name. Hope to catch you there!

All Wall Will Fall – music video production time lapse

We just enjoyed a great Saturday shooting a music video for All Walls Will Fall with the lovely people from Anomaly Media. The band was filmed on the second day of the film makers four day schedule. Our sincere thanks go out to everyone in the production team, they were all amazing. The edit is about a month away, but you can check out a quick time lapse of the 12 hour session right here

Next Friday August 19 sees Mere Theory (acoustic) return to the cosy surrounds of the Enigma Bar for Winter Unplugged with our friends Move To Strike, The Miracle Is Now (ex In Fiction), Josh Mann (Paper Arms) and Fire For A Dry Mouth (Machete). This is an 18+ Show. Doors are at 8.30pm, and it’s only $8 entry. Toasty.

Just out… The AUReview’s Photos, Spoz’s Photoblog, Tone Deaf’s Review and dB Magazine’s Review of our SA Album Launch at the Adelaide UniBar last Saturday.
